How 75-ball bingo works
75-ball bingo is the traditional US format. A standard card has five columns labeled B, I, N, G, and O, with five spaces in each column.
Card layout
Section titled “Card layout”| Column | Common number range |
|---|---|
| B | 1 to 15 |
| I | 16 to 30 |
| N | 31 to 45 |
| G | 46 to 60 |
| O | 61 to 75 |
The center N space is commonly free, leaving 24 printed numbers. A house can use a different card or no free space, so the session rules remain controlling.
Follow a line on a card
Section titled “Follow a line on a card”| B | I | N | G | O |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 | 17 | 32 | 47 | 62 |
| 5 | 20 | 35 | 50 | 65 |
| 7 | 22 | Free | 52 | 67 |
| 10 | 25 | 40 | 55 | 70 |
| 14 | 29 | 44 | 59 | 74 |
The example target is a horizontal line. B7, I22 and G52 have been called; the free center already counts. Calling O67 completes the middle row. O65 is in the right column but a different row, so it does not complete this target. If the announced target were four corners, the completed middle row would not be a valid bingo either.
This fictional card is not an entry in a paid game. Each column stays within its number range; the tidy arrangement does not make its numbers more likely.
Round sequence
Section titled “Round sequence”- The game identifies the valid pattern and cards in play.
- Numbers are called or displayed one at a time.
- A matching space is marked manually or by auto-daub.
- A player or system recognizes a completed pattern.
- The card is validated against the official call history.
- The prize is awarded or divided under the tie rules.
In a hall, a player may need to call bingo before the next number. Online software often recognizes the win automatically. Do not assume one claim rule applies to the other.
Pattern play
Section titled “Pattern play”A straight line can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally when the rules allow it. Other games use four corners, letters, shapes, multiple lines, or coverall. The target should be visible before card purchase.
A progressive game can continue from one pattern to another. Check whether calls carry forward, whether the prize grows after a call threshold, and how multiple winners divide it.
Probability basics
Section titled “Probability basics”Before calls begin, a uniform draw does not favor a number because of its value. For a fixed pattern needing the same number of printed numbers, exchanging those number labels does not improve its probability. A line through the free center needs four calls; a line away from it needs five. That difference belongs to the pattern, not to lucky numbers.
During a round, the uncalled numbers do matter. In an original mathematical example with 20 distinct balls already drawn, 55 remain. If O67 alone is missing from a line, its chance on the next uniform call is 1/55. This is not the chance of winning the prize: other cards may finish earlier or share it. More cards increase cost and coverage without improving an individual card.
For a rough comparison, track:
cost per round = number of cards × price per card
Then record the actual prize rule and estimated field. A large advertised prize without field and split information is incomplete.
Mobile variations
Section titled “Mobile variations”A score-tournament app may borrow the 5 by 5 grid while awarding points for accurate daubs, speed, streaks, remaining time, or boosts. The objective is then highest score, not simply first valid bingo. Read the skill and RNG guide before applying hall-bingo strategy.

Section titled “Sources and scope”Gala’s 75-ball guide confirms the grid, BINGO ranges and example patterns. Sky Bingo explains its automatic recognition and shared prizes. Their specific procedures do not automatically apply to a US charity hall or a score app.
